Cappy is a Brownie--small creatures that tend to house holds and have magic hats that can carry most anything they could need--but is a little unusual. Instead of staying home or seeking a nice, normal house, she decides to strike and see where life takes her to find her new home. After a year of wandering she ended up at a castle in the dark kingdom where they'd only ever heard of Brownies, never seen one. Eager to brag to fellow evil rulers about having a Brownie, the vampire lord welcomes her into his home. Not long after, a group of powerful heroes come to kill the vampire lord and when she finds him wounded, Cappy hides him in her hat and convinces the heroes he escaped, pointing them off on a wild goose chase.
Well, there's a rule amongst Brownies that you're not to put other beings, especially powerful ones, into your hat. Apparently, that's because the hat steals their power to protect itself, and there's no known way to give it back. So suddenly, Cappy has not only the Vampire lord's magical power, but also all the lands and influence that comes with his rank as an evil lord. Oops!

• Like all Brownies, she can store things in her hat, move super fast when doing chores, and levitate objects.

• She techniquely has all the powers of a Vampire Lord, but as she's never drunken living blood--nor intends to--she can't control them.

• Her own "evil Lord" powers are to permanently depower objects and people by sucking them into her hat, catch and shoot back magical attacks with her hat, and super jumping.

• Her favorite power is changing between her Brownie and "Lord" form by going into her hat. (Everyone finds it very endearing that her "Evil Lord" form is still so small and decidedly not intimidating)

Early days of Isekai stories, I fell head-over-heels in love with “That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime”. The idea of a cute little creature becoming the ruler of a kingdom of monsters and just trying to make a safe, healthy community for everyone makes me so happy. Cappy was my take on this idea: A little fae that is traditionally a servant becoming a powerful ruler just sounded like a lot of fun
